About Made in New York

Heather Briccetti, President and CEO, The Business Council of New York State, Inc.

The Made in New York website was created by The Business Council of New York State to promote and highlight the businesses of New York State and the many products and services they make and provide. Our hope in doing this is to increase awareness of the great companies that are the backbone of New York's economy. We know that for New York to once again be considered the Empire State it must expand its economy and create private-sector jobs.

According to ABC News, if every American spent $64 on something made in America once, we could create 200,000 jobs right now. 12,379 of those would be in New York. Imagine if we spend just a little more on products made right here in New York.

Renewed economic growth is the only long-term solution to improving the economic status of all New Yorkers.

Right now, New York’s economy, although improved, remains uncompetitive. Between 2000 and 2010, New York suffered a massive loss of middle class jobs, and the economic benefits and state and local tax revenues that go with them. We need to create similar jobs now.

Going forward, New York needs to make the state more attractive for private-sector investment in job- and wealth-producing sectors. Renewed economic growth will benefit workers and families, and produce the tax revenues needed to finance necessary public services.

We hope you will support New York based businesses and the products and services they make and sell.

By working together and buying ‘Made in New York’ we can make a difference one purchase at a time.
